The Game
The FIRST Robotics Competition Team game for 2010 is “Breakaway”:
In the “Breakaway” robotics game, two alliances of three teams will compete on a 27-by-54-foot field with bumps, attempting to earn points by collecting soccer balls in goals. Additional bonus points will be earned for each robot suspended in air and not touching the field at the end of the match.
We competed in the San Diego Regional Competition March 4-6, 2010 at the San Diego Sports Arena. We only had six weeks to design, build, program, and ship our robot. We spent the first two weeks strategizing and designing. The next week we spent prototyping and revamping our ideas. Weeks four and five were devoted to building and programming. Week six we added finishing details and tested our soccer playing masterpiece.
We won the Rookie All-Star Award at the San Diego Regional Competition, and earned an invitation to the FIRST Robotics National Championship in Atlanta, Georgia, April 15-17th. The competition will be broadcast live on NASA TV. Click here to view the matches.
