Our FTC Team
Canyon Crest Academy had its first FTC Team this year - named Domo Arigato – made up of ten junior year students. The team was very successful and won three trophies: Winning Alliance Trophy for first place at the Los Angeles regional tournament against 13 other high schools; Finalist Trophy for second place at the Las Vegas regional tournament against 26 other high schools; and the Judges Award Trophy (for innovation, outreach, team spirit, and competitive success) at the San Diego regional tournament against 30 other high schools. In addition, the Domo Arigato team was a finalist for the Think Award which goes to the team with the best Engineering Notebook. The team is heading to Atlanta’s Georgia Dome in April to compete in the World Championship!
This year’s robot game was called Hot Shot and the robot had to drive around, avoiding competing robots, and release balls from a chute, scoop up balls from the playing field, and shoot the balls for points into goals located in the playing field or outside the playing field for bonus points.
